On 17.2.2025 a session on "Igniting Innovation Through Problem solving” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of AI&DS. The session was handled by Mrs.G.Brintha AP/AI&DS, Francis Xavier Engineering College. Fifty nine students from second year AI&DS-B and one faculty of AI&DS department participated in the program. The program was coordinated by Mrs.P.Sooriabrabha, Assistant Professor, department of AI&DS from 9.0AM – 12.30PM.

The program started with the introduction of the guest speaker by Mrs.P. Sooriabrabha. During this session the guest speaker discussed about how effective problem-solving techniques can fuel creativity and drive innovation. At the heart of every breakthrough lies the ability to address challenges and find new solutions. Innovation thrives when individuals or teams take an analytical approach to problems, dissecting them to identify the root causes and potential improvements. By applying diverse problem-solving strategies such as design thinking, brainstorming, and iterative testing, organizations can unlock fresh ideas and approaches. Encouraging a mindset of continuous learning and experimentation is crucial for fostering a culture of innovation. Additionally, collaboration and knowledge sharing across departments or fields can lead to cross-pollination of ideas, which often results in more impactful and unconventional solutions.

Empowering the students with the tools and freedom to solve problems creatively boosts morale, leads to more effective outcomes which ensures competitive edge. Furthermore, embracing challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles can make problem-solving a key driver of long-term success. By integrating problem-solving into the core of a company’s operations, one can not only overcome immediate hurdles but also build a strong foundation for sustained innovation. Students interacted with the guest speaker and gained new insights on problem solving and innovation.
