On 26th & 27th February, 2025, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Institution Innovation Cell (IIC), in association with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, organized a “Mentoring session on Project Development”. The session took place at the Electrical Drives and Automation Applied laboratory from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Totally 27 batches of 98 final year Electrical and Electronics Engineering students presented their projects. The experts from Electrical Engineering department evaluated the projects presented by the students. The program was coordinated by Mrs. M. Mary Sumitha, EDC Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Francis Xavier Engineering College Tirunelveli.

Students enthusiastically presented their projects and defended their project proposal in front of the expert members, who asked them to highlight technical features and other important points relating to their project. Those who have presented their project received expert comments and opinions to finetune the project to the next level. The experts emphasised the importance of innovation and product development. The expert members appreciated the students for their creative and innovative thinking which is capable of scaling up. The experts requested the students to link their project with the current industry problems.

The experts gave few examples also for integrating the project with industry problems which gave lot of insights and dimension to the student’s innovative projects. Few projects are relating to the current environmental problems which are useful for the society. Some of the projects considered the Sustainable Development Goals while developing their project which were much appreciated by the experts during the project evaluation.

Additionally, the students were asked to upload their project ideas in the YUKTI portal and to scaleup their project into a product in future. The two days presentation was an eye opener to most of the students as they got lot of comments and observations from the mentors and the experts.
