On 14.12.2024 a Talk on National Energy Conservation Day "Powering Sustainability: Every Watt Counts" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The Session was handled by Dr. R. Rajagopal, Associate Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 1.30 PM – 4.30 PM. 41 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by Mrs. M. Mary Sumitha AP/EEE. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.
The program started with the welcome address by Ms. M. Mary Sumitha, Assistant Professor, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College.
Resource person gave delivered an insightful session on the urgent need for clean energy, environmental pollution, global warming, and climate change. He explained the purpose of energy conservation and described sustainable energy generation technologies, along with the cost-benefit analysis of conservation. He also explained how energy conservation ensures a better future for the next generation. He also discussed current energy consumption based on the Statistical Review of World Energy 2024 and highlighted the environmental impact of the energy sector, which accounts for a significant portion of global greenhouse gas emissions. He pointed out key steps to improve energy efficiency, including building efficiency, industrial efficiency, and transportation efficiency.
Furthermore, he discussed various renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, and hydroelectric power, explaining their benefits. He also shared success stories demonstrating renewable energy in action. Students gathered lot of information about the energy conservation and the need for taking vigorous steps. Online Feedback was conducted at the end of the session. All the participants attended the session received the e-certificates after successfully submitting the feedback
