On 14.2.2025, a Workshop on Innovation Development: “Design Thinking: A Key Solution for Solving Intricate Problem" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Information Technology. The session was handled by Mrs. T. Nancy Lydia, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli, from 2.00 PM to 4.00 PM. A total of 52 Students and 2 faculty members participated. This event was coordinated by Mr. F. Richard Singh Samuel, AP/IT. The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.
The guest speaker explained the concept of design thinking as a structured yet flexible approach to problem-solving, particularly in addressing complex societal challenges. The speaker emphasized that design thinking is not limited to product design but is a powerful tool for innovation, enabling individuals and organizations to develop user-centered solutions. Participants were given examples for how design thinking develop critical thinking for solving the problem to create innovative products.
The discussion highlighted that an open, empathetic and collaborative environment encourages diverse perspectives, experimentation, and adaptive thinking for tackling intricate problems. The workshop emphasized that social entrepreneurs can leverage design thinking to identify root causes, prototype innovative solutions, and refine their ideas based on real-world feedback.
